Modern, hip hop, contemporary, and African dancer.

Dancing since the age of 6, Lisa started out with Ballet at Turfhall Primary School and continued for another 6 years. As those years progressed she moved on to Modern dance, hip hop, contemporary, and African dance.

In 2002, she joined Silverleaf Dance Company and trained with them for 3 and a half years. In her matric year (2005), Lisa auditioned at Jazzart Dance Theatre (September 2005) and was accepted into their “Young Adult Training and Job Creation Programme”, which starts with a new set of trainees every 3 years.

While dancing for Jazzart, she was fortunate enough to have worked with legendary artists and dance-makers, being exposed to and trained in a variety of dance forms, namely Contemporary, Hip hop, African, Spanish, Indian dance (Barathanatium), pantsula, tap, gumboot, and ballet.

Lisa performed in major productions during her 3 years at Jazzart, namely:

Danscape, Guardian of the Flame (featuring musicians such as Neo Muyanga, Sibongile Khumalo, Tina Schouw, Janine Neethling, Heather Mac), Twenty1, I am cinnamon, Gatherings, The Baxter Contemporary Dance Festival, Alfred Hinkel’s “Bolero” at the FNB Dance Umbrella.
