Bands and Ensembles

Top SA Band

One of his greatest achievements was being voted in to be the support act for BonJovi on their ‘Because we can’ Tour in 2013 – “One of my most memorable shows to date - 50 000 people in Cape Town stadium” – The footage can be seen on the music video for the single, "Where Angels fear to fly"

Mark was signed to Universal records with whom he released his chart-topping debut solo album, titled, ‘Where Angels fear to fly’.  The album was toured consistently for 2 years and enjoyed huge radio success with its 7 radio singles.  His first single, ‘Out of my head’ was the most downloaded song in 2011 on the SA download chart; his 2nd single, ‘Alone’ was play listed by SABC TV and Multichoice; his 3rd single ‘Wake Up’ went to number 1 on the Kia Take40SA chart where it stayed for a record breaking 23 weeks, when it was finally retired – this holds the record for the longest time an SA musician has stayed on the chart.  Each successive single made top 10 status on several radio stations in SA, while the track ‘Shake what your Mama gave you’ was chosen to be on ‘The Only Rock album you’ll ever need’ compilation (the only SA artist asked) and the music video for ‘Wake Up’ was chosen to be on the NOW 64 DVD.

Mark has since toured Namibia, where he performed at the legendary Wanderers Stadium and headlined the MoonRock International Music Festival in Malawi.

Back home, he was invited to perform at the KKnK as one of the feature artists – an honour normally only bestowed upon Afrikaans artists.

He was asked to be a Shout SA ambassador, by Danny K and Kabelo and was involved in the recording of the Shout anthem, has been a guest speaker at many campaign rallies and was featured in award winning music video shot on the streets on Johannesburg alongside many of SA’s well-known musicians.

He has many causes he is involved in aside from Shout.  He is part of the Mzanzi Stop Rape campaign for LeadSA; he also works very closely with Reach for a dream, where he donates his time and performances for the children; Mark also has done several drives for CANSA, assisting with the annual Shavathon and doing media appearances to build the awareness.

A great honour for Mark was being invited to perform at Kirstenbosch Gardens alongside Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, where they did a few duets together – “Hotstix is one of South Africa's longest standing artists and has won several SAMA awards.  I was truly honoured to get a phone call from him”

Mark has been involved in several music conferences and was a guest speaker at the International Music Exchange conference this year alongside some names like, Vicky Sampson, Arno Carstens, prime circle, Brian o Shea, Big concerts, etc
