Afropop, Folk and Township Jazz Fusion

Sibanye is a South African world music group with its roots in Cape Town and making music that is a fusion of Afropop, folk and township jazz.

Sibanye is a Xhosa word meaning "Together As One" and is also the name of a song of reconciliation that led to the formation of the world music group in the Mother City. The group members are from the City Bowl and surrounding townships Nyanga, Gugulethu, Old Cross Roads, Eersterivier and Khayelitsha.

The music of Sibanye celebrates the spirit of a rainbow nation through its proudly South African style with lyrics in all eleven official languages of South Africa. At live performances, they also incorporate iconic, beloved songs from South African soil.

The band has performed at various public stages and festivals, amongst other the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre on New Year's Day, KKNK in Oudtshoorn, Gariep Festival in Kimberley,SU Woordfees in Stellenbosch and Olive Festival in Prince Albert.
